Serra Club //
The Charlotte Diocese is welcoming a new apostolate, the St. Junipero Serra Club, to the parishioners in our area. The Serra Club is a lay Catholic organization that promotes vocations to the priesthood and religious life. This club has the full approval of the bishop to charter a new chapter for our diocese in 2026.
They are in search of quality Lay Catholic candidates for the chapter membership. These candidates should be strong in their faith and zeal in doing God's work to pray for more vocations.
The Serra Club Forming Committee will be reaching out to these candidates to tell them more about Serra and the forming of the club here in Charlotte. The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of interested candidates will be needed for the forming committee to use to contact them. Please send this information to Father Miguel Sanchez at jmsanchez@redoc.org
A "Come and See" information meeting will be set up by the Forming Committee to let them know about the background of Serra International and answer any questions they may have. These information meetings will occur each month and are ongoing while the club is in formation.
March for Life in Raleigh // Marcha por la Vida en Raleigh
The North Carolina March for Life is scheduled for May 17, 2025, at our state capitol in Raleigh, NC. The Family Life office is hosting a bus trip day pilgrimage from Charlotte to Raleigh for this important event. Baby Bottle Campaign / Campaña de Biberones
Our annual Baby Bottle campaign with Hope Pregnancy Center begins May 3rd. Pick up a bottle in the narthex and fill it with dollars and change. Hope Pregnancy Center will use the funds to support the care of infants, children, and teens in our community. The campaign will end on June 15th. Additional information about Hope Pregnancy Center, including their impact and other ways you can contribute, will be available in the Narthex during the campaign. Let's outshine last year's 50 bottles!
Nuestra campaña anual de biberones con Hope Pregnancy Center comienza el 3 de mayo. Recoja un biberón en el nártex y llénelo con dólares y cambio. Hope Pregnancy Center utilizará los fondos para apoyar el cuidado de bebés, niños y adolescentes en nuestra comunidad. La campaña finaliza el 15 de junio. Paul and Barnabas encounter both violent rejection and joyful acceptance of the message that they preached. We, too, may meet with mixed reactions when we use our gifts in service of God. But, the Gospel assures us, the reward for those who follow faithfully is eternal life.

2025 Jubilee Year/Año Jubilar 2025
The Jubilee Year holds profound significance for Catholics as a time of spiritual renewal and reconciliation. Rooted in biblical tradition and celebrated approximately every 25 years, it is an invitation to experience God’s mercy through acts of charity, confession and pilgrimage. Marked by the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica on Dec. 24, 2024, and activities at other designated sites, the Jubilee Year symbolizes the opening of hearts to divine grace and a recommitment to faith and community. Take a moment to explore the Jubilee Year of Hope, to learn.
The 2025 Jubilee Year has as its central theme “Pilgrims of Hope” (taken from “Hope does not disappoint” Rom 5:5). In his papal bull Spes Nos Confundit, Pope Francis called on all people of goodwill to embrace the jubilee year as an opportunity to bring hope to the world. May this year, he wrote, be a “moment of genuine, personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, the ‘door’ (cf. Jn 10:7.9) of our salvation, whom the Church is charged to proclaim always, everywhere and to all as ‘our hope’ (1 Tim 1:1).”
Jubilee years provide a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, emphasizing God’s abundant mercy and the call to live a renewed life of faith and service. During a jubilee year, Catholics are encouraged to:
- Make pilgrimages to designated holy sites, especially in Rome
- Pass through Holy Doors, symbolizing entering God’s mercy
- Perform acts of penance and charity
- Receive special indulgences by fulfilling specific spiritual acts and prayers
El Año Jubilar tiene un profundo significado para los católicos como un tiempo de renovación espiritual y reconciliación. Arraigado en la tradición bíblica y celebrado aproximadamente cada 25 años, es una invitación a experimentar la misericordia de Dios a través de actos de caridad, confesión y peregrinación. Marcado por la apertura de la Puerta Santa en la Basílica de San Pedro el 24 de diciembre de 2024 y actividades en otros lugares designados, el Año Jubilar simboliza la apertura de los corazones a la gracia divina y un nuevo compromiso con la fe y la comunidad. In the same line as following the actions of the Priest from our last Church etiquette, we stand when he stands for the Alleluia, not before even if the choir has begun to sing. We are following the Priest at Mass, as he is representing Christ Our Shepherd.
Siguiendo la misma línea que el sacerdote, según nuestra última etiqueta eclesiástica, nos ponemos de pie cuando él se pone de pie para el Aleluya, no antes, incluso si el coro ha comenzado a cantar. Seguimos al sacerdote en la misa, ya que representa a Cristo, nuestro Pastor.
CMG Connect Replaces Virtus Training Program
The Diocese of Charlotte is launching a new training program for clergy, employees, and volunteers to enhance efforts to protect children and young people in all of our churches, schools, and ministries. The new program, called CMG Connect, replaces the VIRTUS Online training program effective this week. The change affects all clergy, religious, seminarians, lay employees and volunteers who work or serve in our diocese
La Diócesis de Charlotte está lanzando un nuevo programa de capacitación para clérigos, empleados y voluntarios para mejorar los esfuerzos para proteger a los niños y jóvenes en todas nuestras iglesias, escuelas y ministerios. El nuevo programa, llamado CMG Connect, reemplaza el programa de capacitación VIRTUS Online a partir de esta semana. El cambio afecta a todos los clérigos, religiosos, seminaristas, empleados laicos y voluntarios que trabajan o sirven en nuestra diócesis.
